Learning objectives

  • Identify the shared and unique characteristics of AD, PN, and CSU including epidemiology, signs and symptoms, and comorbidities
  • Discuss how type 2 inflammation contributes to the clinical presentation of AD, PN, and CSU

Description

An infographic summarizing the shared and distinct clinical features of AD, PN, and CSU that are driven by type 2 inflammation. In AD, these features include barrier dysfunction, increased risk of infections, eczematous lesions, and inflammatory chronic itch. In PN, these features include fibrosis, papulonodular lesions, scarring, and neurogenic and inflammatory chronic itch. In CSU, these features include vasodilation and increased vascular permeability, angioedema, and transient wheals that itch. A deeper understanding of the pathophysiology that contributes to the distinct clinical features and the common symptom of itch will help to address the burden of these chronic, pruritic conditions.
