Exploration of the shared mechanisms of itch across AD, PN, and CSU as well as the distinct ways itch manifests in each disease.
The chronic skin conditions atopic dermatitis (AD), prurigo nodularis (PN), and chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) have distinct clinical signs but share the common, debilitating symptom of itch. In AD, PN, and CSU, type 2 inflammation and a dysregulated neuroimmune axis underlie itch pathophysiology. This symposium explores the shared mechanisms of itch across these diseases, as well as the distinct ways itch manifests in each condition. Understanding the pathomechanisms of itch will help to address the substantial burden of these chronic pruritic conditions.
