Zsuzsanna Szalai

Zsuzsanna Szalai, MD, is the Head of the Department of Pediatric Dermatology of Heim Pál National Children’s Institute in Budapest, Hungary. Her main interests lie in atopic dermatitis, hemangioma and vascular malformations, genetic diseases, genodermatoses, keratin disorders, skin infections, and severe pediatric dermatological disorders.  

She is a former board member, secretary, and president of the European Society of Pediatric Dermatology, and is currently a member of the Scientific Board. She has also served as a board member of the Hungarian Society of Dermatology, Head of the Workshop for Pediatric Dermatology of Hungarian Society of Dermatology, Member of Editorial Board of different Journals, Member of the Clinical Investigator Board, and scientific board of Heim Pál Children’s Hospital, and member of EADV, ISAD, ETFAD EDF. She is an honorary member of the Serbian Society for Dermatovenerology. She organized the ESPD Congress in Budapest in 2005, and organizes the Advanced Fostering Courses for Pediatric Dermatology. 

She has received several awards and honors, including the Kaposi medal. Furthermore, she has taken part in multiple studies, authored many articles, guidelines and book chapters, and is involved in organizing the Hungarian Pediatric Dermatology congresses.
