Biography

Dr. Weily Soong is an allergist and immunologist in Birmingham, Alabama. He serves as the Chief Research Innovation Officer of AllerVie Health and Clinical Research and founded AllerVie Health, a national provider of allergy and immunology services. 

 A native of Birmingham, Dr. Soong received his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Dr. Soong then went to Yale University School of Medicine to complete his internal medicine residency and allergy and immunology fellowship.  While at Yale, Dr. Soong spent time studying the role of immune cells in the lungs during influenza infections and studying the development of asthma in infants and toddlers.

Dr. Soong moved back to Birmingham and joined Alabama Allergy & Asthma Center. He became the managing partner of Alabama Allergy and director of its clinical research division Clinical Research Center of Alabama. During this time, Dr. Soong continued his interest in the development of asthma in patients and in the allergic march. He has been the primary investigator or an advisor on numerous Phase 1 through 4 clinical research trials, especially in the areas of asthma, atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria, nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, food allergy, and eosinophilic esophagitis. Dr. Soong expanded his practice nationally and helped to create Allervie Health and Clinical Research in 2021.

 Dr. Soong has published more than 20 papers in leading journals, including The Lancet, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has received the Outstanding Volunteer Faculty Award by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) and has served as the chairperson of several of the AAAAI committees.
