Biography

Philippe Gevaert, MD, PhD, is Professor of Rhinology and Allergy in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Ghent University, Belgium. Further, he is the scientific coordinator of the Allergy Network of the Ghent University Hospital, and his clinical and research activities are focused on allergic rhinitis and chronic rhinosinusitis with and without nasal polyps. 

Since 1998, Prof. Gevaert has been active in the Upper Airway Research Laboratory at Ghent University. Currently, his research is focused on local IgE, allergen-specific immunotherapy, and biologics in allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps.  

Prof. Gevaert is involved in several national and international scientific societies, including the European Rhinologic Society (ERS) and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, for which he has served as Chair of the ENT Section and the Infection and Allergy interest group. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and has received 9 international research awards, including the ERS Clinical Research Award.
