Biography

Gil Yosipovitch, MD, is a tenured Professor and Stiefel-endowed Chair of Medical Dermatology at the Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology at the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami and the Director of the Miami Itch Center, which focuses on chronic itch as a disease state. 

He was the founder of the the International Forum for the Study of Itch and served as its first president.  

He is the author of over 640 articles in books and peer-reviewed journals, and the editor of 6 books. Additionally, he serves on eight key specialty journals. He has been awarded many times, including one of the highest awards in dermatology, the Marion B. Sulzberger lectureship award, at the 2016 AAD meeting. Additionally, he was awarded several other prestigious awards for his research, such as the Heinz Maurer prize by the German Dermatology Society, the inaugural Jeff Bernhard award at the World Conference of Itch in Boston, and the highest medical award by the Wroclaw Medical University in 2017. Dr. Yosipovitch has given more than 500 invited lectures to dermatology groups and organizations around the world, and has mentored more than 40 fellows, PhD students and post-Doc fellows.
