Biography

Elaine C. Siegfried, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Dermatology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Her main research interests lie in investigating atopic dermatitis and pediatric drug development. Prof. Siegfried’s current practice includes all aspects of caring for children with congenital and acquired skin problems, emphasizing on severe inflammatory skin disease.  

She was a past-president and director of the American Board of Dermatology and serves on the editorial board of Dermatology Times. She has been awarded several times and repeatedly recognized as one of Woodward White’s Best Doctors in America. In addition to running her busy outpatient office practice and offering her services for pediatric emergency rooms and inpatients with skin disease, she continues to mentor medical students and residents. An internationally-recognized expert in the field and an active clinical investigator, she has authored over 100 original papers, book chapters and abstracts and is a frequently invited lecturer and leader serving several professional organizations. She is also a leading principal investigator in multiple industry-sponsored clinical trials.
