Biography

Donald Leung, MD, PhD, serves as Edelstein Chair of Pediatric Allergy-Immunology at the National Jewish Health and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. From 1989 onwards, Prof. Leung has served as Head of Pediatric Allergy-Immunology at National Jewish Health. From 2004 to the present, he has been Principal Investigator of the NIH/NIAID Atopic Dermatitis Research Network. His research has studied the fields of immunology, atopic dermatitis, allergy, internal medicine and asthma, frequently intersecting with other fields such as pathology. 

He has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his career, including the E. Mead Johnson Award for Outstanding Research in Pediatrics and multiple awards from the AAAAI, including the Distinguished Scientist Award for his work in AD. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and in 2020, he was named by the Web of Science as one of their highest-cited authors. In 2022, he was promoted to Distinguished Professor, reflecting his sustained outstanding contributions and international recognition in the field of AD. He has authored more than 800 publications in peer-reviewed journals and received over 35 NIH grants and 20 patents.
