Biography

Dhandapani Ashok, MBBS, MD, FRCPCH (UK), is a pediatric gastroenterologist in the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario, Canada, and an associate professor of gastroenterology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University. His clinical interests are eosinophilic esophagitis, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease in children. He maintains a special interest in pediatric functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and GI motility disorders, and he is well versed in interventional endoscopic techniques. His research efforts are directed at noninvasive monitoring of childhood liver diseases and eosinophilic GI disorders. He is either a principal investigator or a co–principal investigator of numerous ongoing novel biologic drug trials in eosinophilic disorders and inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Ashok is an active member of numerous professional organizations, among them the Canadian Pediatric Hepatology Research Group, of which he is a founding member; the Canadian Pediatric EOE Network, where he serves on the Practice and Innovation Committee; and the Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network. He is also a member of the NASPGHAN Technology and Tech Evaluation Subcommittee, which explores, implements, and evaluates the newest technologies and social media.
