Biography

Christos Tzivinikos, MD, is a consultant pediatric gastroenterologist and founder of the Gastroenterology Department at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

He also serves as a clinical associate professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University College of Medicine in Dubai. Dr Tzivinikos graduated from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece, and trained in pediatrics in the United Kingdom. He holds a Master of Science with merit in Pediatric Gastroenterology from Queen Mary University of London in East London, England. A Fellow of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, Dr Tzivinikos was the clinical lead at the Pediatric Gastroenterology Division at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, in Liverpool, England. Internationally active in education, Dr Tzivinikos is the founder of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) Inflammatory Bowel Disease advanced course and EPSGHAN Foreign Body Ingestion course.

He also served on the ESPGHAN Council from 2015-2021 and the ESPGHAN Gastroenterology Committee from 2018-2024. Dr Tzivinikos is an active member of several ESPGHAN working groups, participating in the development of numerous position statements and guidelines, resulting in over 60 peer-reviewed publications.
