Arnaud Bourdin, MD, PhD, is head of pulmonology and a professor of respiratory medicine at the University of Montpellier’s Arnaud de Villeneuve Hospital in Montpellier, France. He is an associate dean of the University of Montpellier’s faculty of medicine. He also acts as the leader of the Respiratory Diseases and the Environment research team at the Physiology & Experimental Medicine of the Heart and Muscles Laboratory. Professor Bourdin earned both his medical degree and PhD from the University of Montpellier, which he followed with a fellowship at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Professor Bourdin’s research interests concern the pathophysiology and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the mechanisms and treatment of severe asthma, as well as the investigation of innovative treatments for asthma, COPD, and rare diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension. As a result of his research, he has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and has acted as principal investigator for multiple trials involving asthma, severe asthma, and COPD, including the COBRA and RAMSES studies. Additionally, he acts as a reviewer for three international journals.
Professor Bourdin is a member and fellow of the European Respiratory Society. Additionally, he also serves as a member of the Global Initiative for Asthma’s science committee, as the French national country lead for the SHARP Clinical Research Collaboration, as a member of the CRISALIS Clinical Research Network for Severe Asthma, and as a member of the International Severe Asthma Registry’s core steering committee.
