Biography

Ana Maria Giménez-Arnau, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Dermatology at the Autonomous University and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, as well as a consulting physician in Dermatology and Venereology at the Dermatology Department of Hospital del Mar. She specializes in Immunoallergic Skin Diseases. She obtained her degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and completed her doctoral training (cum laude) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She is certified in Dermatology and Venereology. Her main research interests include urticaria and eczema, as well as contact dermatitis and atopic dermatitis.

Prof. Giménez-Arnau has authored more than 300 international scientific publications and 250 national publications, including textbooks on Contact Dermatitis, Atopic Dermatitis, Occupational Dermatitis, Urticaria, and Therapy in Dermatology.

She is a member of several scientific associations, including the European Society of Contact Dermatitis, for which she served as Secretary from 2007 to 2012, the European Society for Investigative Dermatology, the European Academy of Dermatology, the European Dermatology Forum, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, and the American Academy of Dermatology. Prof. Giménez-Arnau has served as an external expert on the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) for hair dyes and cosmetics at the European Commission. She represents Spain in the Dermatology section of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) and the COSTStanderm Action for the prevention of Occupational Skin Diseases.
