Disease Burden of Uncontrolled Persistent Asthma

Despite advances in the management and treatment of asthma, a significant burden remains in patients with uncontrolled persistent asthma worldwide. Explore the key factors that contribute to this burden of disease and the impact they may have on patients.

Guidelines recognize four key factors that contribute to the burden associated with uncontrolled persistent asthma:  impaired lung function, serious exacerbations, poor health-related quality of life, and frequent or chronic oral corticosteroid use.
