Marjolein Cornet, MD, PhD, is head of teaching in the department of otorhinolaryngology at Alrijne Hospital in Leiden, the Netherlands. Dr Cornet received her degrees from the University of Amsterdam in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Additionally, she performed an internship at the Mardi Lestari Hospital in Sragen, Indonesia and a residency in otorhinolaryngology and head & neck surgery at the University of Amsterdam’s affiliated Academic Medical Center.
Dr Cornet’s research interests are primarily focused on furthering the study of the diagnostics and treatment process for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, particularly alongside coexisting conditions such as allergic rhinitis or asthma. In pursuit of these interests, she has participated in the authoring or coauthoring of many publications, including guidelines from the European Forum for Research and Education in Allergy and Airway Diseases (EUFOREA) and the European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (EPOS), as Dr Cornet is a member of EUFOREA’s CRS & EPOS team. She has also has a history of participating in many international RCTs such as AROMA, ANCHOR, SINUS, and Realiti-N, which all concerned the evaluation of various treatments for CRSwNP. Lastly, Dr Cornet is also a member of the steering committee for PolyREG, which is a Dutch national registry for patients treating CRSwNP with biologics.
