Carla Giordano, MD, PhD, is a professor of anatomical pathology in the Department of Radiology, Oncology, and Pathology at Sapienza University of Rome in Rome, Italy. She is also a staff pathologist at the Policlinico Umberto I at Sapienza University of Rome.
Dr Giordano earned her medical degree from Sapienza University of Rome, followed by the completion of her Doctor of Philosophy degree in human pathology. Subsequently, she received a fellowship in the Department of Neurology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, in New York City. She then completed a research fellowship in the Department of Experimental Medicine at Sapienza University of Rome.
Dr Savarino has focused her research interests on the clinical, histological, and pathological features of various disorders, including cardiomyopathy, diverticulosis, ulcerative colitis, Sjögren’s syndrome, lymphadenopathy, and celiac disease. She has published her research in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Cardiovascular Pathology, Digestive Diseases, Pathologica, Digestive and Liver Disease,Molecular Genetics and Metabolism Reports, and the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.
Dr Savarino is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology, the Association for European Cardiovascular Pathology, the Società Italiana di Anatomia Patologica, and the Fondazione Italiana Linfomi. From 2016 to 2023, she served as the Group Coordinator of the Studio SIAPEC di Cardiopatologia.
