Christopher Ma

Biography

Christopher Ma, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary, Ontario, Canada. He is also Senior Medical Director at Alimentiv, a gastrointestinal research organization for clinical trials in London, Ontario, Canada. His primary research focus is clinical design and analytic methods, and the epidemiology and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, notably Crohn’s disease, and he is currently involved as principal investigator or as co-principal investigator in multiple publicly and privately funded clinical trials. He is the lead for the international core outcome set for therapeutic studies in eosinophilic esophagitis and the CORE-IBD consortia. 

Dr. Ma has received multiple teaching awards from the University of Calgary, including the Excellence in Overall Teaching Award for his outstanding work in the Adult Gastroenterology Residency Program, and the Rising Star Award from Crohn’s and Colitis Canada for his research work. He is the author or co-author of more than 180 peer-reviewed publications, over 80 abstracts, and many books and book chapters. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada.
