Biography

Enrico Heffler, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Consultant at the Personalized Medicine, Asthma and Allergy Unit at Humanitas University in Milan. Prof. Heffler completed his first degree in medicine and surgery at the University of Turin, Italy, specializing in allergy and clinical immunology. He then went on to complete a PhD in clinical and experimental medicine and a post-doctorate in allergy and clinical immunology. Prof. Heffler has previously worked as an Assistant Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Catania, Italy. 

Prof. Heffler’s clinical interests in the field of inflammatory airway diseases include immunological mechanisms of allergic diseases, asthma, rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, anaphylaxis, and food allergy. He has a particular research interest in the inflammatory mechanism of severe asthma. 

Prof. Heffler is the Scientific Coordinator of the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Clinical Immunology, the President of the Italian Academy of Nasal Cytology, and a member of the Immunotherapy Interest Group of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Dr. Heffler has authored more than 160 publications in international scientific journals.
