Biography

Monica Kraft, MD, is the Murray M. Rosenberg Professor of Medicine and System Chair for the Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Health System and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Prior to that, she was the Robert and Irene Flinn Endowed Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, and Deputy Director of the Asthma and Airways Disease Research Center at the University of Arizona.  

Dr. Kraft is a member of several professional societies, including the American Thoracic Society, for which she previously served as president, the Association of Professors of Medicine as a council member, and the Advisory Council of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. 

Dr. Kraft’s research interests include the mechanisms of innate immune dysfunction, inflammation and airway remodeling in asthma, and evaluation of personalized/precision approaches to asthma therapy through clinical trials. Her work has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Lung Association for more than 25 years. She was recognized as the Arizona Bioresearcher of the Year in 2019. She received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, awarded by President Bill Clinton at the White House, in 2000.
