Biography

Dr. Joost Meijer is a dermatologist working at the department of Dermatology and Center of Expertise for Blistering Diseases at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the Netherlands. In 2018 he received his PhD degree with honor entitled ‘Diagnosis of Pemphigoid Diseases’ at the University of Groningen with promotor late Marcel Jonkman. His research includes clinical and translational studies to autoimmune bullous diseases with a special interest in bullous and non-bullous pemphigoid. Other research is focused on diagnostics of autoimmune bullous diseases, direct immunofluorescence microscopy and serration pattern analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence in imaging. He has contributed to several book chapters, international guidelines and scientific papers in the field of autoimmune bullous diseases.
